Although the government reported that there were 290,000 jobs added in April, there are around 1.5 million less people employed in the U.S. now than a year ago. Unemployment rose to 9.9%, 17.1% if discouraged workers and forced part-timers are considered, because 805,000 people reentered the labor force.
